A cyclone is the circulating wind system with low pressure system at center. They are of two types i.e. tropical and temperate cyclones. The difference is between the two is discussed below: # Tropical cyclone is formed due to high pressure gradient force and high coriolis force between the two airmass of nearly similar properties. while temperate cyclone is formed due to interaction of two different airmass with contrasting properties. #Tropical cyclone can be formed only over water surface while temperate cyclone can be formed over both land and water surface. #Tropical cyclone moves east to west but temperate cyclone moves from west to east. #Tropical cyclone is formed at equatorial region of 5-10 deg latitude but temperate cyclone is formed in 35-45 deg latitude. #Tropical cyclone has stages of Rain-calm eye-Rain but temperate cyclone gives light drizzle in warm front zone and heavy shower for short period in cold front zone. #High wind speed and can cause loss of life and property in tropical cyclone but temperate cyclone is relatively less violent. #Tropical cyclone is formed in summer while temperate cyclone is formed in winter. #Only cumulonimbus cloud in tropical cyclone but in temperate cyclone cumulonimbus and nimbostratus is formed. #Tropical cyclone is relatively small in size compare to temperate cyclone. Despite the difference stated above both cyclones play an important role in the agriculture and in the life of people. They are a crucial link of hydrological cycle and thus their significance can not be overlooked. (This question can be dealt in better way if one draws a line and discuss the diff. can save many words)
